How dark you can legally go
- Windshield
- Tint strip above the AS-1 line only
- Front side windows
- More than 28% light through
- Rear side windows
- More than 15% light through
- Back window
- More than 15% light through
- Windshield
- Tint strip above the AS-1 line only
- Front side windows
- More than 28% light through
- Rear side windows
- More than 6% light through
- Back window
- More than 6% light through
- The big difference is behind the driver. On an SUV, truck, or van, the rear side windows and back window only need to let more than 6% of light through. On a car, it is more than 15%.
- The glass counts too. Many SUVs come with factory privacy glass in the back, and the law measures that glass and the film together. We help you pick shades that keep you legal.
- Medical exemption. If a condition makes you sensitive to light, Florida offers an exemption through the DHSMV with a form from your doctor, which allows darker tint.
- Ceramic does not need to be dark. The heat block is in the film, not the shade, so a legal shade up front still keeps the car cool.
Laws can change, so check with local authorities if you are unsure. For more detail, see our Florida tint law guide.

Read our full tint care guideWindows up for 3 days
Rolling them down too soon can catch the film’s edge and lift it.
A little haze is normal
It’s the install solution drying out from between the film and the glass. It clears in about 3 days, or up to 5 when it’s cold.
Inside glass: hands off for 10 days
After that, clean it like normal. The outside of the car can be washed right away, since the film is on the inside.
Use an ammonia-free cleaner
Ammonia breaks film down over time. A tint-safe cleaner and a soft microfiber keep it clear.
No blades or scrapers inside
Anything sharp on the inside of the glass can cut or lift the film.
Watch seatbelts, rings, and paws
A buckle or a claw can nick the film. Our No-Fault Protection add-on covers that kind of damage.
What people get wrong about window tint
Myth: “Darker tint is always cooler.”
The truth: Not with ceramic film. The heat block is in the film, not the shade, so a lighter shade still keeps the car cool.
Myth: “Tint blocks my phone, GPS, and SunPass.”
The truth: Only metallic films can. Ceramic film has no metal, so everything works normally.
Myth: “Purple tint is just what tint does with age.”
The truth: That is cheap dyed film breaking down. Our ceramic film holds its color, and fading is covered by our lifetime warranty.
Myth: “Ceramic tint is the same as ceramic coating.”
The truth: No. Ceramic tint is a window film that blocks heat and UV. A ceramic coating protects your paint.

What window tint customers say
When I recently purchased my Tesla Model-Y Juniper I shopped around to see where I could get these paint protection film and ceramic coatings and window tinting applied. There are excellent shops in Tampa, Orlando, Ocala, and Leesburg but I found Polished to Perfection Auto Detailing and Ceramic Coatings right here in Wildwood, across from Brownwood. They have been in business for many years in Leesburg but have recently moved to Wildwood in the past couple of years. The difference I found with this shop is althought their prices were competitive with most of the other shops for the same services, they perform the extra steps to make sure the result is as good as it can be. For example, the pre-wash and iron remover and pre-treating are extreemly important. You want to make sure paint correction is done, especially on a Tesla where the paint isn't always perfect, before applying any coatings. Also, if you are getting PPF, this shop will disassemble some of the trims and even the camera covers on the Tesla so they can wrap the film to get a better seal. Overall, many of the extra steps this shop takes contributes to a better result because nothing is 100% perfect so you want to get as close to perfect as you can. They also do ceramic window tinting and will install some after market upgrades such as the rear trunk spoiler and mud flaps on my Tesla so, you can get everything done at this local shop right here in the Villages. Chais, the owner is also very easy to work with and he does everything he can to make sure you are happy with his work. Polished to Profection is one of the best detailing companies in Central Florida.

How long does window tint take?
Most full cars are in by 8 AM and ready by 4 PM. Just the front two windows, matched to your factory rear glass, is often about an hour.
What is the difference between carbon and ceramic tint?
Carbon film is only for looks and privacy. It has no real heat rejection, which is why we do not offer it. Ceramic film is built to reject the infrared heat you feel, so the cabin and seats stay noticeably cooler.
What is the difference between ceramic and super ceramic?
Both block 99% of UV and carry the same lifetime warranty. Ceramic blocks up to 88% of the heat you feel and keeps the cabin about 32° cooler. Super ceramic is our highest heat rejection, blocking up to 98% and keeping the cabin about 35° cooler.
Does darker tint block more heat?
Not with ceramic film. The heat rejection comes from the film itself, not the shade, so you can pick a lighter shade and still get the heat block.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
Bubbling, peeling, fading, and cracking, on both the film and our labor. Damage from outside causes, like a seatbelt buckle or a dog, is covered by the No-Fault Protection add-on.
Can I roll my windows down right away?
Give it a few days so the film can cure. We will tell you exactly how long for your film and the weather that week.
Can you tint my sunroof?
Sunroofs and glass roofs are not part of our tint packages. We do them as an upgrade with tinted paint protection film. Ask about it when you request a quote.
What tint is legal in Florida?
Front side windows must let more than 28% of light through on every vehicle. Behind the driver, cars need more than 15%, while SUVs, trucks, and vans can go as dark as 6%. On the windshield, only a non-reflective strip above the AS-1 line is allowed. The law measures the glass and film together, and there is a medical exemption for people sensitive to light. The full chart is right on this page.
How long does window tint last?
Ceramic film is built to last the life of your car, and ours is backed by a lifetime warranty on the film and our labor against bubbling, peeling, fading, and cracking.
Can you remove my old tint?
Yes. We strip old, purple, or bubbling film, clean the glass carefully around your defroster lines, and install new ceramic film the same day.
Why do I see haze or small bubbles after tint?
That is leftover moisture from the install, and it is normal. It clears as the film cures, usually within a few days, and a little longer in cool, cloudy weather.
How do I clean tinted windows?
Wait until the film has cured, then use an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a soft microfiber towel. Skip paper towels and anything abrasive.
Can I tint my own windows?
You can. Kits are sold online, but it's harder than it looks: home jobs usually end up with bubbles, dust specks, or gaps at the edges, and Florida sun shows every flaw. We cut film to your exact windows, install it in a clean bay, and back it with a lifetime warranty on film and labor. If a home job didn't work out, we can remove it and start fresh.
What's the best tint for Florida heat?
Ceramic tint. It blocks heat with ceramic particles instead of darkness, so even a lighter shade keeps the car noticeably cooler. Our Max Comfort ceramic film blocks up to 98% of the heat you feel and 99% of the UV that fades your interior. It won't interfere with your phone, GPS, or SunPass, and it won't turn purple like cheap dyed film.
Will I get pulled over for tint in Florida?
Tint darker than Florida allows can get you a ticket, and officers can check it with a meter. Florida requires more than 28% of light through the front side windows, and more than 15% through the back on cars (6% on SUVs, trucks, and vans). We help you pick shades within those limits, counting your factory glass.
Can I tint my front windshield in Florida?
Florida allows a tint strip along the top of the windshield, above the AS-1 line. Below that line the law doesn't allow tint, which is why our windshield option is fully clear: it doesn't darken the windshield, and it still blocks UV and heat.
Is 35% or 20% tint darker?
20% is darker. The percentage is how much light gets through, so a lower number is a darker shade. Our window tint percentages guide shows what 5%, 15%, 20%, 35%, and 70% look like.
How much does window tint cost?
Window tint starts at $550. The price depends on the film, how many windows you tint, and your vehicle. Every install includes a lifetime warranty on film and labor, and we'll give you an exact quote for your car.
